Featuring expert speakers from the industry to teach topics such as how marketing workS, how to write bios and press releases, how to create authentic content for yourself online, how to present yourself professionally to the industry and how to take all of these learnings and transform them into action plans.

Each session will combine knowledgable talks and interactive activities facilitated by the speaker.

week 1

Led by Dave Columbo Jenkins

Applying his 25 years of working in the music industry as a journalist, DJ, Radio presenter and many other roles in between, he will shed light on the often mysterious world of press and promotion.

Covering topics such as the history of how promotion is used in the industry, providing intriguing pointers and tasks to get you thinking about your own artistry, empowering your content and nurturing a community from your output, breaking down do's and don'ts when engaging with press and music platforms, as well as debunking a few industry myths in between. The workshop will allow time to draft your bio and be provided feedback during the class.

week 2

Led by Dónal Sharpson

Bringing a wealth of knowledge from his creative role as a DJ and music producer combining with being a teacher and music lecturer; Donal will provide resources on how to network and present yourself professionally in the industry.

Covering topics such as how to remain motivated as an independent artist, which brands, labels and platforms to check out based on what you do as an artist and the best practice in communication skills when reaching out to people in the industry. The workshop will allow time to draft your own personalised and compelling email with provided feedback during the class.

week 3

Led by Cat aka Faded Society

Combining her vast experiences in product development and marketing, together with her role as a DJ and event producer in the music scene, she'll teach you to transform all lessons from previous weeks into action plans.

Expanding on topics such as content creation, how to be authentic in your output, understanding effective design principles, discussing how to use tools and functions effectively on social media platforms, and how to organise and pre-plan content. The session will provide feedback on your designed Electronic Press Kit (EPK) homework and many group discussions to identify more content ideas.
